The Cheltenham Handsome Family? Your Bonzo listing puts my modest collection to shame.I'm impressed & have added yr site to my favourites. Any thoughts on the Autodrifters being a latter-day Antipodean variation of sorts?

If anyone has any interest, I have the vinyl UA History of.. and the pics therein.

Hi Greg, Hope you remember your 14th July of 1989 stay at home and our few evenings since that time at Alain and Kerry's house at Melbourne. Under pressure of Alain who is now in FRANCE with Kerry on holidays as you probably know, I bought a laptop and I am now connected now to the net (I was probably the last of the Mohicans in that field) but that's done now after Alain's hard work to convince me I desperately needed it. He actually used it more than me when he got home last week end (they are now somewhere around the Alps or south of France). Actually, by curiosity, I marked Hervé DREANO in Google and found your site that I had seen already years ago. I'm happy to see it still exists. Hope you are well BOTH OF YOU and that we may see another time, my trips to Australia were 1991/1996/2003, so it sounds that the next one should be within a couple of year unless you decide another trip to Europe within. Cheers, Hervé

Hi

Hoping you can help me. I am brand new to this and am trying to find out how to turn my vinyl into cd's. Unfortunately I don't have a magic wand and some of your "talk" is going over my head. Is it possible to get a turntable and hook up directly to computer to download then filter with something like CoolEdit Pro, then burn to CD. Is it this simple? If so, what sort of connection do I need on my turntable and what on the computer? This info would really help.

Was looking at a turntable on ebay and asked the seller what software I needed and how to do it re connections etc and he directed me to your sight as this is where he had found out.

This is for the cat people on the site. Research food grade hydrogen peroxide as a booster of the immune system in animals, to say nothng of humans. [Don't use the commercial kind used for bleaching hair.] I put two or three drops in a small glass of water and use that in an eye dropper in the side of my cat's mouth, increasing it over time. He now laps it willingly. Decades ago experiments were done with dairy cows, and there was a definite reduction of typical cow diseases.

Google images, clicked on cats.

Great info on Godley and Creme, but one correction. It was stated that Snack Attack was released only on vinyl in the US. But that is not right. I have it on cassette. It is on Mirage records, released in 1981, catalogue # 7 90487 - 4 - Y. Is that Kevin Godley hitting those extremely low notes on Sale of the Century? Also the same guy singing Cry? If so, what a vocal range he has.

Hi Greg. Like your site.

I'm 42 and mainly interested in Heavy Rock and Metal, but my collection of MP3s spans 50s->2006. I started out listening to LPs before moving to CDs in the mid 80s. I am aware of the difference in sound between the two and was hoping to possibly hear a sample MP3 recorded from LP. Are you offering a taste? Would you happen to know of other resources for LP->MP3s. Thanks for your time.

Having just read your story on magpie families, I was surprised to read that you feed the maggies minced meat. I also have the pleasure of a visiting magpie family of 3 - Fiona, Bozo and Junior. I got talking to a lady in the supermarket about feeding magpies and she told me that minced meat can cause problems with the birds' legs (according to the vet who treated her maggies). Apparently it contains too much preservative. She said that dog food was the best to feed them as it has all the nutrients they need. She was buying the big sausage type dog food (lamb beef and veg) so I followed her lead and did the same. Like you I've also cut their hand- feeding down to twice a day as I fear the young one will not learn to fend for her/himself. I love having them around - first time for me.

I was looking for info on butcher birds. I had heard they have some nasty habits, which is quite disappointing. I guess it's the old law of the jungle, but why must it be so cruel?

This is one helluva website. I always new that Oz 78 pressings were vastly superior to the UK ones, but have seldom had access to any.

Many decades ago I owned a large collection of 78s by Joe Daniels and his Hot Shots (I took a few drum lessons from Joe in the late '40s). His first recording was of 'Sweet Sue' - several attempts and several 'takes'. I owned two of them - they had the same catalog number, but were different issues from different recordings. I remember that one had a much bigger label than the other.

Sadly many decades and moves on, I no longer have these discs - only the memories thereof. If anyone owns copies, could they please get in touch?

Dear Greg,

no comments - although it thoroughly succeeded at one of its stated goals of being amusing... I was thoroughly amused.

And TRULY impressed at your Mighty Music Collection, particularly as it concerns All Things Bonzo.

There didn't seem to be, however, a way to email you or in any other way make cnotact except through this Visitor Book.

I wonder if you might be able to help with a minor project I'm trying to do? Namely, i have acquired a new import CD of "Sir Henry at Rawlinson End," to my ENDless delight. However, it's all one giant track comprising each entire side of the album. I want to break this apart with Quicktime Pro, which can do the job, thereby separating the tracks so I can load them INDIVIDUALLY onto my iPod - thereby making me even happier.

HOWEVER... miserable Charisma Records... or any other place for that matter either... couldn't be bothered with providing the track timing for any of the songs. Would you have this available from your album collection and, if so, would you be able to take a moment and send me those times somehow? You'd make a fellow Stanshallite very happy if you could.

Trillions of Thanks in advance for any help you might provide.

Bonzishly Yours,

HOHOHO

I did a "Clusty" search for trach timings for the "Sir Henry" CD and your Bonzo album came out near the top. You looked like the only person with the info available.

PS, can't recommend "Clusty" enough as a superior search engine - one that DOESN'T keep a 28-year cookie on you, like Google does. Besides... the way it "clusters" search results into relative categories is VERY helpful

Good work Greg on a highly diverting, original and rather idiosyncratic site.

Spent ages sniffing around, but perversely spent most time in the 'Bad Music' section. In my UK childhood I remember Kenny Everett's annual "(S)Hit Parade". William Shatner was always well placed, but Country and Western was represented too. A propos of that, two questions :

1. " .... you've gone and done what you shouln't ought to.... you've gone and stomped on my aorta" is a line from (S)Hit Parade winner one year. Does anyone know the song-title/artist? (I don't)

2. Did the following C&W songtitles/artists really exist?

If I'd Killed You When I Wanted To, I'd be Out of Jail By Now by Reuben Darnell; She Got The Gold Mine And I Got The Shaft by Jerry Reed; She Broke My Heart, I Broke Her Jaw by Rick Stanley.

I've also recently found http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/mp3s/ - good for mp3 from the challenged.

Anyway, musical emergency: please can I have a copy of the I Hate the Adelaide Crows song. Don't get me wrong, I haven't a specific down on the Crows, but I remember it being played on the ABC more as a lament to the corporatisation and associated trends of football. Oh and if you're inclined to share more, happy to drop off a wodge of blank CD's.

Thanks - Simon

By googling >"i hate the Adelaide Crows" song< - orthogonal.com.au was the only hit!

Enjoyed viewing. Ran out of time. will have to come back. I have two cats for pets both neutered. I just got electric power back from Katrina's visit. I was far enough north to be safe but I got bored with no TV or internet and then enjoyed especially the zoom from space to your house.

I find being new to the internet that googling images not the whole web leads you to interesting pages. A well made image stands out in the image gallery against all the all the same stuff.

There was the question about the number 10.3104 arising from the calculations on these numbers.

There is a site: http://www.cecm.sfu.ca/projects/ISC/ISCmain.html, where you can type in this number.

You will get a lot of formulas of mathematical kind.

I Find this Site very interesting Greg Because you Brought 27 NANCY St From My Mum and Dad I think 1987. Len and Gwen Biggins. They moved to Ballarat.

The Photos of the home That me and my three sisters grew up in for many years, Is Great to look back on. DAD died 1992 and would have loved to see the fireplace and the other Brickwork he layed with pride is still Standing.I rang Mum and she was thrilled to hear about the old home.and what you had done over the last 15 Years. It is great site.and would like to hear from you

Hello there Greg.

I arrived at this website not by accident but somehow l got onto schoolfriends and being curious found myself signing up to the website and then looking at Monterey High school 1970 being the year l left. Going a little further and thought l would take up your offer and have a look at your website, l just couldn't believe l found school photos of old friends that you obviously have taken the time to treasure and kind enough to share them with us thanks.

Well l'm not through getting through your website as yet but l'm thoroughly enjoying it so far, better still l can relate to it.

I lived in Frankston just about all my life then 4 years ago decided to do something really game and move....l guess Frankston got the first half but not the second half of my life. l'm enjoying the tropics and all it's weird stuff, and if l miss anything it's being able to have a hot meal without sweating!! and cruising down monterey blvd just to get a feel of the old school days, l also lived on Monterey blvd. Well thats about it, thanks greg, your website is great.

Sincerely Leanne

Hi Greg

You remember me i suppose. i was just at Alain and Kerry`s house just one year ago. few days ago , Alain wrote me for the NEW YEAR and gave me your own website address. it was particularly funny to see these old pictures from the July 89 party at home and also a bit sad to realize how we got older in almost 15 years!

anyway hope that you are well, that you have also found a job and that your summer is not extremely hot like in February 97!

feel free to come back to Paris whenever you want for one of your next holidays. there will always be a good bottle of French wine waiting for you !

by the way, HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and all your family and dearest friends.

Great website. Came across it whilst searching for Mac software to digitise vinyl recordings. Can you recommend anything - hopefully you are not totally anti-Mac like a lot of people!

I especially liked the pic of your computer room. I can appreciate the amount of work and cabling that goes into something like that, as I am trying to put something similar together. I have a cassette deck, reel to reel, turntable, tuner, DVD player, CD player, mics etc, how do you connect it up to a single line in on the PC? Is it best to use a hardware mixer on the front end? Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks for the website,

Website looks great - should be more like it. Your name came up whilst I was trying (yet again) to see if I could find any info whatsoever on an album I heard many many years ago and have been trying to get hold of in one form or another ever since - Doggerel Bank 'Silver Faces'. A lost classic it seems. And the tape I have will only hold together so much longer. After many false starts, I finally found a current link ! Would love to hear from you - may be able to help you with some other 70's vinyl that I did manage to grab at the time...

Searching for above album on AltaVista, found several references/links to you on other sites (network-lynx, mira.net) all of which were dead/out of date. I then happend to spot the Nancy Street reference on search page 3 - amazed to see we are in the same town!!

Awesome!

I was frightened by how many of the tracks I already had, though, many of which I actually paid money for! I even bought the Uri Geller CD, on his personal insistence, after I got him to autograph the album version for a friend... :)

Oh, and I notice you're missing what I consider to be the worst English-language track of all time - "Be true to your school", by the Beach Boys. Just listen to them pack "Just like you would to your girl or guy" into the space reserved for six syllables!

I did a Google search for "Fish heads Mumy MP3" - I was discussing the "Mullet" hairstyle in a chatroom (as you do) and somebody made the comment "Oh, Fish heads!". It only seemed right to introduce them to the track... ;)

Hi,

I found your website by accident while searching for a particularly obscure cartoon tune. I must say that I am sorry you did not manage to create a truly boring website in the tradition of the usual Internet personal website, as was your stated intent. Rather, I found your attention to detail to be meticulous, and your comments to be quite funny.

Be that as it may, I wish to thank you for the four songs I downloaded. Before I found Nancy Street, I had no idea whether such celebrities as Barbara Feldon and Frank Gorschin could sing or not. Now I am entirely convinced that they cannot. Let us hope the damage to my psyche is not permanent.

Keep up the good work!

Your site is great - while being upfront, honest it is also very informative - it's kept me busy reading for 4 days so far.... cant be that bad then? It's very well laid out and full of interesting info as well as odd bits of quirkyness and intrigue. How you found the time to put it all together is beyond me. Maybe with your programming skills you could put a bit of interaction based on your hobbies - games, trivia, quizzes, puzzles... (for people like me!) Well done and thanks for the connectivity.. :)

I think your site is great. I particularly like your taste in music - I am in the process of locating and downloading all of the songs I taped off the radio back in the 80's. I found some great titles in your Jukebox list.

I came across your site after a search in Yahoo (Aus.) for a song called "All Touch". I was looking for it on WinMX, but didn't know the artist (I found the artist on your site - thanks). When I have some more time I plan to go through your list and identify titles I didn't tape back in the 80's (and hence wouldn't search for otherwise).

I plan to put my list on the internet at some stage, but I'mnot big on web authoring so I'm not really sure of the best way. I'll probably just export my Access database and post it as a text file.

Anyway, keep up the good work!!!

PS I like your anti-AFL idea. We need something like that up here.

You are providing a great service for lovers of bad records...thanks.

The pride of my bad music collection is a gem I picked up for 10 cents at the Mullumbimby St Vinnie's years ago - George Hill's "Our Boys Are Over There", on ""Australian Forcesd Records". A Slim Dusty-ish dirge about our brave boys "Belting back old Charlie Cong" and how there was a bit of a "Blue on up there in Nui Dat" and that one thing "Charlie Cong" hated to see was a "Digger's old slouch hat".

Maybe John Howard will re-release it and have millions of copies dropped on Baghdad as a dire warning to Saddam.

Greg, as soon as I can get into MP3 format will send it to you.

Referred from a music obsessive friend - word of mouth, you can't beat it.

I'm such a fan of Godley & Creme's music. And I've always thought Kevin Godley's had such a great rock & pop singing voice. Athough I've got their Images album on CD, and Ismism on LP, I do hope that all of their studio albums will be release on CD. Particularly, Goodbye Blue Sky. Because I really like the track Bits of Blue Sky which is the final track on the Images album. And I actually used to have Goodbye Blue Sky on LP when I was very young. I also hope for the future that there will be a DVD of their's to be released because I also like their video clips too. And hopefully the video clips of them singing A little piece of Heaven, 10,000 Angels and Under Your Thumb should be put on DVD aswell the video clips of them singing Golden Boy, History Mix Volume 1, Cry, An Englishman in New York and Wedding Bells. I would also like to see an extra DVD added which features their interview which I also find interesting.

I was looking on the Google website for virtually all the Godley & Creme websites. And as I found it and had a look on it, that interested me. It is also interesting to see their photo gallery because I'm interested in their current appearance.

Hhhmmm, those were the days...just looking over some of the old vinyl. It would be better if my name wasn't associated with quite a few of them, oh well! Top site you've put together. Also had a look how the Opus is coming along - how do you fire up the shopping cart? Also, when you click on "Media/Owner/Genre", why does the whole page refresh? p.s. Do you care for "user" feedback, or would that spoil the whole programming experience?

Google: "Greg Keogh" completely failed...almost...it showed the skeptics site and from there was able to link to Orthogonal!
