In their 7 year career, The Beatles recorded 222 song titles on their 14 official studio albums and singles, with a total play time of just over 10 hours ... and so the history of music had a new chapter
inserted.
It was a hobby of mine back in high school in the early 70s to own every original record by The Beatles. It took about 4 years with the help of pocket-money and gifts to eventually get all 14 of the original albums plus Greatest Hits Volume 2 which contained some non-album songs like Day Tripper, We Can Work It Out and She's a Woman. At that time I was missing a few of the rarer singles and B-sides, but I didn't really notice, as I was mainly interested in getting all of the original albums and hit singles. The price of LPs back then was from $5.99 to $7.99 and $12.99 for the double White album.
When the CD arrived in the early 80s, some of the first CDs I purchased were Beatles albums. It was fabulous to hear these albums in clean digital glory, and as a bonus, you couldn't scratch them and wear them out with repeated plays.
In the 90s I seriously considered buying the full collection boxed set of CDs, but I was irritated and disappointed to learn that the first 4 albums were only available as mono CDs and this led me to eventually discard the idea. To this day I have no idea why they would release mono CDs when the original LPs were in stereo, even if it was sometimes rather gimmicky stereo with wide separation.
With the arrival of the home computer age and music compression technology in the late 90s my old Beatles collecting hobby went a step further and I decided to try and collect every track by The Beatles on a single CD of mp3 files. By ripping my own CDs and swapping with friends I managed to complete the mp3 collection in about 4 weeks of spare time. A few unavailable tracks had to be digitised from my original vinyl records.
Version 9 of The Beatles mp3 Collection (dated March 2006) contains 721 files in 45 folders. The following table shows the contents of the well-known and officially released albums by The Beatles. Some tracks run together to remain as a single mp3 file and these have been indicated with coloured text. You can click most of the album cover thumbnail images to pop-up enlargements, but be warned that some of the pop-ups will require at least a 1280x1024 resolution display.

During the late 70s I collected these 7" singles from specialist record shops in Melbourne:
