While having lunch at Soul Mammas in St Kilda on Wednesday the 11th of July 2007 I noticed thick black smoke coming from The Palace. Luckily the Canon EOS 400D was handy to get some great shots. Starting at around 4:30pm it took 90 minutes to get up Fitzroy Street and back to Cheltenham, thanks to the police blocking roads everywhere combined with the tramway works and a huge film production crew also blocking Fitzroy Street. The photos are in time sequence. In the first few photos, smoke from the fire has only been visible for a minute or two.
