The 1988 Fujitsu Users Group conference in Brisbane was luckily timed to coincide with the World Expo. Mayne Nickless was kind enough to fly Marcia up for the event. We had complimentary tickets and access to Fujitsu's peaceful pavilion meeting room as relief from the massive crowds. The Expo site was filled with quirky and humorous statues, mobiles, roving entertainers and landscaping which were often more entertaining than the official international presentations. The attention to detail by the Expo designers was superb.

The Brisbane River and sprawling Expo site

The impressive Expo band marched thorugh the site every few hours

The Chinese pavilion had a few of their stone warriors

It was very tiring negotiating the dense crowds

A part of the daily parade of weird floats

Here are curios found during a cleanup of some old drawers in mid-May 2004: Pieces of Quantas Flight Desk writing paper with stamps from some of the Expo 88 pavilions.
