In April 1999 we took a weekend trip to the town of Bright in the Victorian "high country". This is a lovely part of Australia, especially during the Autumn Festival when tourists flock to the area to enjoy the russet coloured tree-lined roads and the calm and balmy weather. You can drive to the top of nearby Mount Buffalo (see below), explore the numerous restaurants and eateries and visit Wandilligong Maze (see Hobbies - Mazes). There are dozens of quaint and attractive choices for accommodation, some of them kilometers down dirt roads, like the one we stayed at in the Buckland Valley. |

| Only 10 minutes drive from the centre of Bright is the Wandilligong Maze. The entrance is pictured on the left. You can have lunch there and spend at least 20 minutes exploring this moderately difficult maze. For more information see Hobbies - Mazes. The picture on the right is taken from an advertising postcard. | |
| In the distance we see the tip of The Horn, the highest point on nearby Mount Buffalo (left). We're going to climb to the top of that! From the carpark it takes about 20 minutes of walking up a steep incline to reach the top of The Horn. Marcia treads along the path on the way upward (right). | |

| On the way home we stop at Markwood Winery run by fourth generation winemaker Rick Morris (left). Rick is a subscriber of the Australian Skeptics. Rick specialises in chemical free wine and produces a Cabernet Sauvignon, two types of port and an amazingly pure and clean Riesling. On the right is the legendary Rush-Inn caravan park in Porepunkah, a shrine of fond memories from holidays back in the late 1970s when it was managed by the our friends the Burzacott family. | |
